Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano:
About:
The Thursday saw us traipse off towards the Vatican and the other side of the Tiber, via another series of landmarks. Despite the unsettling amount of Italian teenagers about, we finally made it to the Vatican with the rest of the world. Guess the nationality game could be played. The Vatican is a modern building in Roman standards, a mere 400 years old! However its easy to understate the sheer impressiveness of the architecture and finish of the building. Combined with the literally breathtaking views from the top (a bargain £2.50 if you prepared to climb another 550 steps!), its well worth the time to visit and explore. And explore we did. Unfortunately in searching for the Sistine Chapel, we somehow missed it and ended up walking around the entire Vatican City walls. We quite literally walked around a country!
