22// Fernsehturm, Berlin

Hallo und willkommen!
The Fernsehturm is one of Berlins most recognisable landmarks and a proud symbol of what was East Germany. Located at the centre of Alexanderplatz the tower is over 365 meters tall and the forth highest free standing building in Europe. Built in 1965 the interior of the tower, is like going back in time with 70s decor in abundance. The lift to the observation platform takes just under 40 seconds and is operated by a man who seems to press the up or down button all day! The views from the top were impressive but not helped by the low clouds and gloomy light, so visibility was no where near the boasted 25 miles! However it did prove a good vantage point to observe the city and take yet more photos. Unfortunately we couldnt go all the way around as part of the platform was being used by a wedding reception. I’m not sure really when to tell Clare about my ideas!
